Take a self-guided hike! (approx 60 minutes)
Docents are stationed along the trail to ensure you don’t get lost and share information about all you will see on your hike, like wildflowers in bloom and the unique landscape of the dune. Stop and take in the native trees towering overhead, speckled with spring growth. See if you can find Hippo Rock (hint, it looks like a hippopotamus!).
It's a great way to connect with nature, exercise, and learn a few things about LC Nature Park.
Visit our Hand-on Activity Table
Ever wished you could pet a bison or touch an elk’s antlers? Now you can! Get up close and personal with hides, antlers, and bones from these majestic animals. Learn about their behaviors, habitat, and how they contribute to our ecosystem. Perfect for all ages, this interactive experience will give you a deeper appreciation for these incredible creatures.
Don’t miss Indiana Wild! (Mills Edu Center)
Don’t miss the furry and feathery and maybe even scaley creatures of Indiana Wild!
Indiana Wild celebrates human-animal cultural connections through live animal programs. Most of their animal ambassadors were someone’s pet or zoo surplus animals. Learn about conservation and how to be a responsible animal steward.
Free cookies and juice for the kids!
Visit with Big Brothers Big Sisters, find out more about this fantastic organization
Plant native! Visit with Native Sanctuary and learn why planting native is so important to our natural environment. Buy some native plants for your own garden!
Journey out to our Trillium Tent, where kids will have the opportunity to try out their skills as field biologists. (Shuttles are available to and from the tent.)
Try your hand at some yard games!
Grab a snack from Another one Bites the Crust (Pizza), Whip & Chill (Ice Cream) or Smokin’ J’s BBQ and dine al fresco at one of the many picnic tables around the MEC.
